Perhaps the most important aspect to learning and enjoying soccer has to do with the quality of the coaching. Nice uniforms, excellent facilities, competitive opportunities and other "creature comforts" are important and enhance the experience, but our children remember their coaches and team mates. Nothing can cause a child to turn away from an activity as much as a bad coaching experience.
Severna Park Soccer recognizes the value of excellent coaching, and we strive to provide that. Our Code of Conduct lays out the behavior requirements that we insist upon. We pay for early certification and licensing, and subsidize up to 50% advanced certifications. The club also sponsors continuing education with seminars and hands-on field sessions with guest coaches, trainers, and referees. We also encourage our coaching staff to assist less experienced coaches by designing and conducting sessions.
