GU8 Select Soccer Takes County League by Storm

... and Venom Girls Go on to Win Fallston Cup Tourney

Severna Park, MD – The Severna Park Venom and Severna Park Girls United – two newly-formed Green Hornets Girls U8 Select Soccer teams – took the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer Association county league by storm this fall.  It marks the first time Green Hornets has fielded GU8 select teams in the league’s fall season.

Venom finished the fall season tied for first place in Division I, winning every game in which it played.  Girls United finished tied for second place in Division II, with a record of 7-2-1.

The Venom roster includes players Gillian Bean, Addison Carey, Parker Collins, Abby Cover, Annie Gage, Emma Lawrence, Sally Reed, Lacey Toth, Bella Van Gieson, Brooke Velez, and Ava Zimmerman.

The Girls United roster (seen below) includes players Ellie Ballard, Kate Behe, Maeve Byrne, Isabella Dorn, Addison Mahaney, Olivia Nardone, Kaiya Norton, Elizabeth Pearce, Eleni Puzas, Lena Slade, and Athena Vangraefschepe.

The GU8 select soccer program is led by coaches Dan Gage, Chris Nardone, Mark Cover, and Jeanne Byrne.

Venom then went on to win its age group in the competitive Fallston Cup tournament in Fallston, Maryland on November 15 and 16.  The championship in Fallston was a well-deserved capstone on a successful undefeated fall outdoor season for the girls.

Tournament champions (seen below) include players Gillian Bean, Addison Carey, Parker Collins, Abby Cover, Annie Gage, Emma Lawrence, Olivia Nardone, Sally Reed, Lacey Toth, Athena Vangraefschepe, Bella Van Gieson, Brooke Velez, and Ava Zimmerman.

Both teams are playing futsal this winter and preparing to lead the county league again this spring.
